About myself, born and raised in the small town of Hokkaido, Japan, I grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature and a rich cultural heritage. Picture me, a wide-eyed kid, dreaming of one day mastering English while basking in the sun—because let’s be honest, Hokkaido winters are not for the faint of heart! So, in my 20s, I traded snowflakes for sunshine and hopped on a plane to Sydney.

After a series of colorful jobs—think fruit packing in Queensland (yes, I can pack from thoudsands of capsicums to hundreds of rock melons) and pampering nails in Melbourne—I eventually found my true calling as a Japanese language teacher. For nearly a decade, I had the privilege of meeting enthusiastic learners who were just as excited about Japanese culture, cuisine, and quirky subcultures as I was. It was in those classrooms, amidst laughter and occasional mangled pronunciation, that I realized I wanted to share more of my heritage with the world.

Fast forward to the day my son arrived—cue the heartwarming music! As any parent knows, life shifts in beautiful ways, and I found myself eager to embark on a new adventure. Inspired by my love for creating artsy gifts that spark joy (and, let's be honest, a few happy tears), Engraving AN. was born.
